Friday Fictioneers Challenge : Write a one hundred word story that has a beginning, middle and end. (No one will be ostracized for going a few words over the count.) You can find the details of the challenge here.

It was before the end of spring that the King Mataunga decided to build a temple at the end of the alley.

He wanted to honour the gods for giving him a child.

Calling his Chief Engineer he proclaimed ” Give me a temple the likes of which is never seen in any kingdoms”.

The Chief Engineer, an honest man worked day and night with his team for six months to complete the temple. Unfortunately due to budget constraints the temple came out to be an ordinary one. The King wasn’t happy but he understood the Chief Engineer’s plight and accepted the temple as it was.

Before the temple was formally inaugurated the Chief Engineer passed away. There was only a day left to finish the stairs to the temple.

The new young engineer in a hurry built it Β but the gaps between the stairs were unusually long.
